Last Resort

For those of you who are scratching their heads, wondering what had happened to all my previous posts - they've been deleted.
I woke up this morning, logged onto my account only to find that 'Iraqi Signor' had been completely deleted. I sent out a few e-mails asking for help and am hopeful of restoring the blog. I have spent almost a year blogging here, posting the absolute, unfiltered and uncensored version of what I was. My attempts at writing poetry, my attempts at commenting on current news and, most importantly, talking about what I know of Iraq.
It couldn't have been a mistake by Blogger, I'm certain that it was deleted deliberately by someone who didn't quite like what he read.
Putting conspiracy theories aside, I think the only thing I can do is start all over again. I love writing and I love writing on this blog; therefore I will continue to write despite the overwhelming sadness that has engulfed me, leaving me lost for words.
I will continue to write.

I have an RSS feed with many of your posts saved in it, although some don't have correct dates. If you want them, please let me know at realtegan@excite.com and I'll send them along.

Heres one of your posts - I truely hope you are able to obtain the rest of them as well.

Smiling Still

As the world celebrates Mothers Day, sons and daughters pay tribute to their mothers, foster-mothers, grandmothers and, in some cases, step-mothers. Our mothers symbolise the essence of what is humane and honest. Whether we know it or not, our mothers are saints.

My mother is the cornerstone of who I am today. She taught me to live and let live, she taught me to pardon and forgive, she taught me to be human.

I speak to my mother as if she were in front of me. I type the words and see her in my mind's eye. She is smiling still.

Never have I forgotten how I loved making you tea. You cherished your tea so much that I said I'll have them put a kettle on your grave. On your bed, you would sit on your knees, rocking back and forth, a Rothmans cigarette tightly held between your full fingers - you regularly look up, smiling at us, keeping us attached, no matter how upset they had made you.

Admired by most, oppressed by many, you remained invincible in your children. Everyone of them is testament of your manners. They all ask "How did they manage?" They thought they could get away with hurting you. They thought you weren't "as good." They don't see what you are made of. Every minute with you is a seed for the soul.. it grows as the heart grows.

Decades will pass by, we will pass away, but your legacy will survive. Your name is timeless. In every generation there will be You, and there will be Them.

All our goodness is from you. All our happiness is for you. All our sadness is a grain of sand in the desert that was your suffering. We venerate you.

We miss you dearly.

Thanks Tegan and Anon.. your efforts are much appreciated..

I managed to retrieve my previous posts but I will have to re-publish them as individual posts..

3eeraqimedic, I dont think it's disturbing at all to have someone keep a record of all my posts, in fact I think it's quite flattering, in a wow-someone-actually-cares kinda way!

but yea, I think it was a malicious thing.. I can't wait till I get my hands on whoever's hacking my blog and my e-mail, whose entire inbox was deleted too.

Thanks everyone, posts will be up soon.

I can't understand how someone could delete your posts.
Hope it will be solved soon

3eeraqimedic, RSS programs like Google Reader and Bloglines keep copies of posts automatically. When Little Penguin posted that posts were missing, I just checked my readers to see if the posts were still there, and they were.

It's actually pretty hard to delete anything off the internet completely. This is usually a good thing.

If you don't want a record of your activity on the internet, the only thing to do is not use the internet. Either that or go ultra paranoid and use every method possible to hide your identity, but recognize that traces of you will still exist.

I realised there were previous posts I hadn't seen before and clicked on them wa7ed waral thani. Personally, I wouldn't ask to read about a 12 year-old's birthday party, even if it is a 'big party', bas mashallah 3aleik, you got away with it and every text was like a facial stretching exercise :D

Hasta Londres, senor.
